How to use Hardwood Garden Furniture Restorer
Before you start
Prep is easy, you just need to remove dirt using a stiff brush.
If there’s a lot of mould, algae or fungi on your garden furniture, use a garden furniture cleaner to completely remove it.
If your furniture is already coated, you will need to use a garden furniture stripper to remove the finish.
Make sure your furniture is completely dry before applying the restorer.
Only apply in dry conditions.
Application
- Give the tin a thorough stir to ensure the consistency is smooth.
- Test the restorer on a hidden patch of your furniture to make sure you’re happy with the results.
- Get loads of restorer on your brush and coat your furniture.
- Use a stiff bristle brush and scrub the restorer in to the surface of your furniture.
- Leave it for 15 minutes to work its magic but don’t let it dry out. If it does, you’ll need to apply another coat and give it a good scrub.
- After 15 minutes, hose down your furniture to get rid of the restorer.
- If your wood is really grey, you might need to apply another coat.
- Once you’re happy with how your furniture looks, leave it to dry for a day or two before applying another stain or oil.
Aftercare
Cleaning
If you get any restorer on yourself, it can be easily washed off with warm soapy water.
Your brushes can be cleaned in warm water.
Maintenance
You should never leave wooden furniture bare as this could cause it to rot or grey in the sunshine.
After you’ve used the restorer, you can apply an oil or stain for a natural and protective finish.
